SEBIBA FESTIVAL : ORIGINATING IN THE ANCIENT HISTORY

The  Sebeiba is a traditional celebration of the inhabitants of the town of Djanet, since antiques. Preparations begin in the districts ELMIHAN and ZELOUZE, from the earliest days of the month of Moharam of the Hegira until its ninth day. The heads (Chouyoukhe) select the dancers to attend the ceremony of the tenth day of the Hegira called "Ashura".

IT WILL ALSO ALLOW PARTICIPANTS TO PREPARE THEIR TRADITIONAL DRESS AND CLEAN THEIR INSTRUMENTS. THUS, WOMEN ARE PREPARING JEWELRY THEY MUST WEAR.

After the ninth day selected participants head to the venue of the meeting called "Doughia" between the two districts, in the bed of the wadi. The dancers wear a sword in one hand and a handkerchief in the other, her head covered by a helmet called "Takounbout" and sandals "Tanba. They are accompanied by two groups of women, those who play the drum, "Ganga" and that imposed hands singing "Tisseouay."
